When the series was renewed for season 22, it was shortly after it was announced that Anderson would not be returning after the actor had only signed a one-year deal. Now, with the season 22 premiere coming next month, showrunner Rick Eid explains how they’ll handle the exit — which fits with the series overall.
talk with TVLine (Across splash screen), Eid said that the departure will be shown in the second episode of the season – the season premiere is part of a trio crossover with Law & Order: SVU And the Law and order organized crime — but it’s a fairly simple allusion, very much in line with the franchise.
“It’s a small sign,” Eid said. “It is in a long tradition Law and order Where it’s very brief and is like, “Go ahead. Here we go. We have to solve the case.”
Anderson previously talked about leaving Law and orderexplaining that he simply just wanted the opportunity to go on to do more TV shows, like a series blackish where he starred and served as an executive producer. The series ended its eight-season run earlier this year.
“I wanted to go out and create more shows like blackishand creating things that I have ownership in, and do something a little different,” Anderson said.
With Anderson leaving the series, season 22 will see the arrival of a new detective. In June, the series was announced super girl And the human kombat Stars Muhcad Brooks as Galen Shaw, a detective who will move to the area and work with Detective Frank Cosgrove (Jeffrey Donovan), who worked with him while in transit.
“You had the idea that Cosgrove loved working with him, and then we found out that the character Anthony played was also,” Eid explained.
As for the other cast of the 22nd season, the season will see the return of Hugh Dancy starring Nolan Price, Odila Halevi as Samantha Maron, Lieutenant Camryn Mannheim Kate Dixon, and Sam Waterston as Jack McCoy.
